MEMBERSHIP
Human Rights Network-Uganda (HURINET-U) was established in 1993 by a group of eight human rights organisations, and registered as an independent, non-partisan and non profit organisation in 1994. HURINET-U’s vision is a society free of human rights abuse and the mission is to foster the promotion, protection and respect of human rights in Uganda through linking and strengthening the capacity of member organisations for collective advocacy at national, regional and international levels.
Human Rights Network-Uganda (HURINET-U) is a network of various human rights organisations in Uganda working together to achieve the main objective of promoting and protecting human rights as provided for in the regional and international instruments that Uganda is party to and as provided for in the Constitution of Uganda. The membership of HURINET-U currently stands at thirty two (32) and is drawn from organisations that are committed to diverse human rights issues but complementary in terms of areas of focus. HURINET-U’s membership is embraced with a wealth of knowledge and information on human rights. The members range from purely Ugandan NGOs to international organisations in the following thematic clusters: Women rights; Child rights; Civil and Political rights; Economic, Social and Cultural Rights; and Peace & Conflict Resolution.
