The Review Conference of the Rome statute for the International Criminal Court ( ICC) will be hosted in Kampala in June this year to discuss specific amendments to the statute particularly the inclusion of the definition and trigger mechanism for the crime of aggression

As far as Uganda is concerned, it is the first country to refer a situation to the ICC; secondly Uganda is a state party. And on the side of state parties, the review is an important event as it will provide an opportunity for state parties to reflect on critical issues that will shape international criminal discourses. Some of these key issues include; stock taking processes and amendments to the statutes. On the side of Civil Society, it will provide a critical opportunity to reflect on past experiences with the court and to contribute towards an effective and efficient court.
In light of this, HURINET-U and the Uganda Coalition of the International Criminal Court (UCICC) together with other partners like No peace with out Justice and the coalition on the International Criminal Court (CICC) have organized a series of activities before and during the Review conference with the view of enhancing meaningful civil society participation prior to and after the review.
